He approaches every matter through a thorough study of the case file: knowing the documents and reconstructing the facts precisely is the basis of every decision, which is then discussed with the client. He explains to the people he assists what is happening in the proceedings and which steps lie ahead, so that every decision is taken with full awareness.

The three areas he works in often meet. A serious road accident or workplace injury can also lead to criminal proceedings for bodily harm or homicide; a separation can come with complaints of domestic abuse. Knowing both kinds of proceedings, criminal and civil, makes it possible to weigh together the choices that affect them.

He defends and assists clients in proceedings concerning:

• tax offences (Legislative Decree 74/2000);
• corporate offences;
• offences against property;
• domestic abuse and stalking;
• sexual violence.

In tax and corporate cases the defence goes through financial statements, tax returns and accounting records, often with an expert: that is where one checks whether the facts alleged match what the documents show.

Domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence fall under the rules known as the Codice rosso (Law 69/2019), which provide for fast-track investigations and often precautionary measures such as removal from the family home or a restraining order. These proceedings call for a prompt response and, for anyone also going through a separation, an assessment coordinated with the civil case.

In family law he handles separations and divorces, both by agreement and contested: custody of the children, child and spousal maintenance, the family home.

Where possible he seeks a balanced and complete agreement; where it is not, he assists in the proceedings before the court. When a family breakdown also has a criminal side, he keeps both fronts together, because choices made in one have effects on the other.

He assists people who have suffered a workplace injury, a serious road accident or a medical error, and the families of victims, in compensation claims.

• Workplace injuries. Beyond the INAIL benefit, he assesses the claim for the differential damage and the additional losses against the employer and the other parties responsible.
• Road accidents. He identifies the insurer liable to pay or, if the vehicle is unidentified or uninsured, the Road Accident Victims Guarantee Fund.
• Medical negligence. With a medico-legal expert and a doctor from the specialty involved he reconstructs diagnosis, treatment and outcome, and handles the preliminary technical assessment or mediation required by the Gelli-Bianco Law.

In every case the work runs from gathering the evidence to negotiating with insurers and, where necessary, going to court, including as a civil party in criminal proceedings.
